However, growing crops still remains a great way to express ourselves and interact with nature as we see the plants mature and making them a beautiful site for our view.
In the current world, people are now residing in different dwelling places in urban centers where physical land to grow crops is not available. However, this should not be a hindrance to anyone who wants to grow crops or flowers because they can create a rooftop garden.
Gardening is a great way to relax and free up your mind from the world’s pressures that come from work and the intricate of earning a living. Fondling around with plants helps us to connect ourselves to the world in its natural state that the world today disconnects us from.
Also, having a garden teaches us about the cycle of life and helps us to improve our spiritual lives because it reminds us about the cycles of life from life’s inception, growth, maturity, and ultimately death.
There are many options for creating a garden at the roof. They don’t have to be complicated and in this article, we shall provide a guide to the growing of a rooftop garden in 2020. It comes down to only 3 basic things and several steps;
Structure

This will protect the plants from rain, wind, sun, and all the other external factors. The structure can be made from materials that can pass a certain amount of sunlight and air which are necessary for the growth of plants.
A PVC structure is one of the good materials to use but you can use any other alternative material that is available in your location.
Gather the materials and tools that you will need to use for the construction of the structure. You should purchase PVC poles that are strong enough to support the who structure, cement to piece together the pole pieces and a role of strings to put the structure in place accordingly.
The tools required for this to work include a PVC pipe cutter or a hacksaw, a knife, and a marker to mark through the important areas.
Once all the materials and tools are in place, mark the required measurements on the PVC pipes and cut them into pieces accordingly until the structure is strong enough to withstand any physical effects such as wind.
Water Containers

You should have self-watering containers or pipes that will pass water to the plants on a constant basis even if you are not around to do It on a daily basis.
Plants require a constant flow of water and the containers will be used for storing water and releasing small quantities of water over a certain period during the day for the plants to sip it slowly.
If you choose to build the containers at home, each of them should be a built-in refillable reservoir of water with a mechanism that enables it to drip little water continuously to avoid water logging in the plants which might cause them to wither.
Soil Mixture

Soil is the medium through which plants grow in and it can be made from actual soil or a soil mixture that is available in gardening shops. The best mixture is one that will not require constant use of fertilizer as you will have little work to work over it.
The soil you choose should have equal parts of vermiculite, compost, and moss which can all be found in garden shops. Manure or compost is the most important component as it provides the plants with the nutrients it requires for great growth.
It can be substituted with fertilizer after testing the soil to determine which components are lacking in the soil.
Creating the actual garden

Once you have the structure, water containers, and the soil mixture ready, you are now ready to go. Put the soil mixture in the container and water it to make it moist overnight so that it can be moist enough.

Ensure that the water containers are placed above the plant locations so that water can drip through the forces of gravity to the plants. Once all this has been set up, it is ready for planting. Enjoy!
